Anarcho-punk warriors From the Depths will be touring the eastern half of North America this fall. They’ve also released the recording they completed earlier this year as a split CD with Colombian hardcore band Nagaf.

" Taking anarchist music back on the stage, NAGÄF was born in Bogotá (Colombia) in 2008 to stand for the critical-political music which refuses to bepart of the consumer based standards. In spite of the short time, the band was conformed some of the members have been involved in the hardcore/punk scene for more than ten years. And some of them are currently playing in bands like: Xterminio, Res Gestae, Otra Alternativa, Reacción Propia, Sabotaje, Grita o Muere y Mano de Obra Barata.
FROM THE DEPTHS was formed at the beginning of 2008 by members of Catharsis, Requiem, Network of Terror, Auryn, and Balaclava. Traveling in a van donated by Winona’s Really Really Free Market after their vegetable-oil-powered truck died mid-tour, they performed for fellow demonstrators outside the 2008 Democratic and Republican National Conventions; they’ve also played benefit shows for RNC arrestees, Green Scare defendants, and other prisoners in the anticapitalist struggle.

Hearkening back to the days when anarcho-punk was characterized by bands as diverse as Crass, Chumbawumba, and Contropotere, the songs on this album combine d-beat power, slower and faster hardcore, harsh noise, and even a passage from a traditional Italian anarchist folk ballad. This is intense, defiant, dark music, but it is based in compelling melodies; you can scream these songs at the top of your lungs in a riot, but you could also sing them quietly to yourself in jail to maintain your spirits. Recorded at Mars Studio (known for recording Catharsis, Undying, and scores of more famous hardcore bands), “Germinate” comprises 7 songs in 36 minutes, an epic paean to self-determination and resistance. ACM006: PROTESTERA / GOTCHA - split 10" Swedish and Japanese "super" anarcho punk bands. We are really really excited this project, because both bands are one of the best anarcho punk bands in the world, and it's very important that the anarchist resistance strategy of Protestera be translated into Japanese. By the way, for the world's punx who doesn't know Japanese GOTCHA : They are male/female vocaled experimental anarcho-punk band that used the drum-machine now from Fukuoka, and the activity is long in Japan. And they released three tapes (demo, split tape w/Control and "How long will we continute..." tape (same as split tape w/Control) and are participating in two compilations ("Crust Night 2001" comp CD that "Tribal War Asia Records" released, and "Nine-states Chain Strength" comp CD-R that "Koroshino Records" released) by present. Their music keep always changing, and now they play sounds like the "Massive Attack meets Crass meets Conflict"! The lyrics also are very inspirational.

This 7" is re-release (includes new artwork + one unreleased song "la mirada de los otros" / "the look of the others") of their first work, entitled "Armonia Para Resistir" (2004) originally released by Uruguay's Catalina Records (tape version) and UK's Blackprint Records (7" version).

According to authors who have interpreted the Old Testament, NAGÄF means: to push, to defeat, to inflict (a disease), to snatch, to fall, to punish, to undo, to hurt, to kill and to beat, putting God as the first and foremost responsible for this deadly actions. For us, this word proof the responsibility of God (i.e, the king, the supreme, the almighty, the tyrant, the expert, the master, the military, the religions, the government, and all those institution as well as individual characters who address to have a universal truth, unique and absolute) in the formulation, implementation, and perpetuation of social relationships based on territory, body and mind domination conquest and invasion.
After trying to make the whole world as one-dimensional as it could be, it look after a unique way of thinking, that just not arouse a particular view, but defend by means of violence, intimidation, punishment and condemnation, configuring the "right" (and ideal) social parameters of behaving that, as the history of our people shows, must be implemented and obeyed by any means of fire and blood under the consent of the dominant sectors and, of course, under the blessing of the holy church.
