" This must be one of the coolest records I've ever seen. A one-sided dark pink 10" with a two-color screen print on the blank side. Screen printed cover and a small but thick booklet with all the lyrics, translations etc. Worth getting for the time and effort put into this alone. If that don't excite you the music might as that's no bad shit either. French anarchopunk that's catchy and raw in a way only punk can be, and also incorporate some d-beat and thrash tendencies. ACM011 : KOBAYASHI - Neuanstrich CD ￥900
This 2nd album of Germany's KOBAYASHI that used Japanese for the band name (it is a popular family name in Japan) is just their best staff as extolled by all DIY punk/hardcore labels which is intimate with them in Germany. They play very outstanding melodic punk/hardcore that is not able to be compared to any band, and all the songs are powerful truly. Although each of the songs are abundant also in variations, there is their consistent color. Intelligent, unique and deep personal-political lyrics are filled with passion for our unknown, and the consideration/dissident's mind for all the lies in this society, although a prospect is not bright. Moreover, it is amazing that the contents of the lyrics and the style of the songs fit exquisiteness. The lyrics are translated into English, Spanish, and Japanese (the Japanese translations were translated by Acclaim. By the way, their lyrics became the factor to which we love them more and more in process in which we translate the lyrics into Japanese. It mean the connection of more than music for us). Laura of Disface participates by guest vocals (on "La valla"). LP is gatefold sleeve, and CD is digipack (There are plus 20 pages booklet). Personally, the artwork which feels familiarity is also expressing Kobayashi of this very well. This is a super record truly!

BURN AGAIN, hailing from Oulu, Finland. This intense band play dark, melodic and pure crust / thrash. I think the d-beat to be emphasized more though they are the sounds influenced by the Tragedy / From Ashes Rise types. Exactly, it is a sound that "BURN" as shown in the band name. And I was heated to the thoughtful angry political lyrics. This special Japanese edition is their discography so far including split 12" LP with "Lahdon Aika" (Finland) and 1st demo CDR. Therefore, it will be able to be said that it is CD version of the split 12" LP. Co-released with 3 Japanese DIY labels (including we "Acclaim"). They are band that acts aggressively in Finland now. They insist : " D-BEAT RULES THE WORLD! "

ACM004 : DOWN TO AGONY - Requiem Por Un Mundo Enfermo 7" ￥400
The brand new 4 songs 7" from the Spanish powerful & crushing Neo-Crust hardcore-punk band who recorded after the first LP "No-Vida". This band is a sound that mixed His Hero Is Gone, Tragedy and Fear Is The Path To The Darkside but they've their own "darkness". And, the vocalist who does scream in tragic voice expresses misery and death of ourselves invented by this sick world. But in their words, there's a conviction to the reality of our own desires to the last. That is, this one is a just "Requiem por un mundo enfermo (Requiem for a sick world)" as told by the record's title. We (A)cclaim Collective didn't know this band at all until there's contact from them. But we felt that our and their standpoint and purpose were the same, so we decided to participate in this co-release. because they have said like thisー"we still live, we still burn, we still love". Great artwork.

ACM003 : EASPA MEASA / NEMETONA - split 7" ￥400
EASPA MEASA from Dublin, Ireland are super female / male vocaled political hardcore 5 piece, and they play amazing crusty melodic hardcore fury. If their sounds are described, it is a sound like Disaffect meets Submission Hold based on Tragedy! (but this is a comparison not significant at all. It will be understood if you touch this band). The 2 songs of this split 7" is re-recording of "Dead Inside" & "Maggots and Worms" from their "Renounce & Dethrone" demo, and these are faster and louder than the demo. their unrelenting lyrics are in English and speak about the police that increase control, our struggle in this world based on greed, violence and power. With Japanese translations of their lyrics of course. An excellent artwork by Glyn of THE DAGDA. By the way, this band's name is traditional Irish language (not spoken by many people any more in Ireland), it is translates as "Lack Of Respect" in English, and pronounced "Ah-spa Mah-sa". NEMETONA is a Japanese female fronted raging crustcore attack. Female vocalist named the "Ascum"-- her insane powerful shout is a charm of this band. Their 3 songs are first recording after the bassist joins, and it becomes a new line up. Moreover, it is a first real recording as for the band. When I saw this band for the first time in "Crust Night 2004" that "Tribal War Asia" organized, and I decided to do release of them in the mind. Their show was awesome. I'm very excited because I achieved the release of this 7" that becomes release of Acclaim's first Japanese band also.

ACM002 : REACCION PROPIA - Inercia Somatica CD ￥900
REACCION PROPIA are passionate powerful hardcore from Bogota, Colombia. They're not the sounds of a so-called "South American type HC" but are very emotional, melodic and metallic. And, they have great anarchist social/political lyrics filled with love and anger. In additon, there's a very considered view to this exact, cruel capitalist system in their lyrics. This CD is Japanese version of their 1st album (2004), and the English translations of lyrics and its Japanese translations that do not exist on the original Colombian version released from their own "PERSISTENSIA RECORDS" is newly added to this CD. So to speak, it will be able to be said that this CD is an "International version". The artwork is also another new version. 10 songs in all. They're very important band that can know another wonderful South American hardcore.

Reaccion Propia "Inercia Somatica" CD (ACM002): Review

REACCION PROPIA - Inercia Somatica CD (ACM002)

" Not sure what is up with my system but every time I pop this disc in my computer lists the band name as Fury of Five, it changes the song titles to those of that band’s This Time It’s Personal album and shows me Fury of Five’s street graffiti-like logo. The music is other, though not that far distanced.

Reaccion Propia do not hail from New Jersey. Instead they call beautiful and powdery Colombia home and like most South American musicians making angry music they sound pissed and…mmmhhh…somewhat generic. Their hardcore is rather melodic but far from wimpy. Most of the melodies sip through the guitars which efficiently drop economic albeit typical hardcore riffs. More distinguishable, though not out of the box, is the vocalist’s painful screams. Dude sounds like he is about to implode like a balloon over filled with water. That or his voice, which is being stretched, is about to give out.

The vocalist doesn’t care about his future, but as a player, the dude in charge here is the drummer. He fills spaces tastefully, accelerating enough to include double bass drumming when the band charges like a Formula One. What sounds like samples, but is more likely spoken word passages recorded by the band or friends, is also included in several songs. It’s a touch that only makes this band’s sound more recognizable but it hardly improves the songs.

More interesting than whole songs are certain passages where Reaccion Propia seem to actually be thinking like an imaginative beast. It’s not strange for this band to include blast beats and breakdowns. Intelligently this South American combo downplays the breakdown part and pieces like the clear strings in “Circulos Estaticos” stand out. Better yet are some riffs that resemble black metal’s usual blur. These ideas are broken, especially when the vocalist breaks in with his blown throat. Here was a band striving for its own sound. They weren’t there quite yet and they will never be. Reaccion Propia called it quits in 2008. "

2005年に、1stアルバム "Inercia Somatica" の日本盤を当方からリリースした後もずっと連絡を取り続けていたコロンビア・ボゴタのReaccion Propiaのメンバーが "NAGÄF" という新たなバンドを結成。

ちかじか、アメリカのアナキスト・コレクティブ "CrimethInc. Ex-Workers’ Collective" のメンバーがやっていたことで知られるCatharsis/Requiemのメンバーが新たに結成したFrom the Depthsとのsplit CDでデビューを果たす。

かれらはコロンビア・ボゴタにおいて、アナキスト・ムーブメントとリンクしながら、10年以上もD.I.Yパンク/ハードコア・シーンに関っていて、非常に困難 (危険) な政治状況を抱える同国で生きていくためには、やはり音楽と政治がリンクするのは現実的に重要なことのようだ。

コロンビアの反対勢力と言えば、FRACやELNという二大左翼ゲリラ勢力が有名だが (現在、これらの二大勢力は以前より勢力を落としており、麻薬売買・誘拐 (金持ち・貧乏関係なしの)・強盗を資金源とした金権政治や階級的な組織構造など批判も多いが、いまだにこの二大勢力を政府に対する「重要な」反対勢力と考えている人々も多いといわれる)、さきに述べたとおりアナキストも存在する。言うまでもないが。

国内には、米帝直属のコロンビア政府、軍及び警察と結託した右翼準軍組織が暗躍しており、それらの左翼ゲリラを始めとした政府に反対するあらゆる者が殺されている。もちろんアナキスト (パンクスもだろうな) もその対象から外れない。アナキストの活動もまた「ゲリラ活動」とみなされるため (どこでもそうだが) 対立的な直接行動は危険極まりない。

2005年のメーデーには、Nicolas Neiraと呼ばれる若いアナキストが、コロンビア国家によって虐殺されるという事件も起こっている。国家のそうした暴虐に対する反撃として、Res Gestae / La Vendetta / Yacopsae "In Memoriam" CDが、Reaccion Propiaのメンバーが運営するPersistencia Recordsを始めとして、南米のD.I.Yパンク/ハードコア全10レーベル協同でリリースされた。

ちなみに、私の知っているコロンビア/南米のアナキストやパンクスはみな左翼ゲリラのやり方に真っ向から反対しつつ、コロンビアにさらなる貧困・腐敗・暴力・死をもたらしている「大元締め」が米帝であることを指摘している。

コロンビアのアナキストは、アメリカ大陸の他の国と同じく、ムーブメントを維持できるが、それには莫大な費用がかかり、一貫性は維持しにくい現状があるようだ。

というわけじゃないが、アナキスト・ムーブメントと密接にリンクしている、このコロンビア・D.I.Yパンク/ハードコア・シーンをもっとサポートしようじゃないか。

Acclaimも、バンドから聞いた話やウェブ上であちこち散見される情報を簡単にまとめたので間違った情報もあるかもしれない。興味を持った人は独自に調べてみてほしい。

Taking popular music back on the stage, NAGÄF was born in Bogotá (Colombia) in 2008 to stand for the critical-political music which refuses to bepart of the consumer based standards. In spite of the short time, the band was conformed some of the members have been involved in the hardcore/punk scene for more than ten years. And some of them are currently playing in bands like: Xterminio, Res Gestae, Otra Alternativa, Reacción Propia, Sabotaje, Grita o Muere y Mano de Obra Barata.

According to authors who have interpreted the Old Testament, NAGÄF means: to push, to defeat, to inflict (a disease), to snatch, to fall, to punish, to undo, to hurt, to kill and to beat, putting God as the first and foremost responsible for this deadly actions. For us, this word proof the responsibility of God (i.e, the king, the supreme, the almighty, the tyrant, the expert, the master, the military, the religions, the government, and all those institution as well as individual characters who address to have a universal truth, unique and absolute) in the formulation, implementation, and perpetuation of social relationships based on territory, body and mind domination conquest and invasion.

After trying to make the whole world as one-dimensional as it could be, it look after a unique way of thinking, that just not arouse a particular view, but defend by means of violence, intimidation, punishment and condemnation, configuring the "right" (and ideal) social parameters of behaving that, as the history of our people shows, must be implemented and obeyed by any means of fire and blood under the consent of the dominant sectors and, of course, under the blessing of the holy church.
