Review: Vespera - 1st demo 2011 Tape

VESPERA - 1st demo 2011 Tape

注目の ex-Angelica、ex-D.S.B./Hazard、ex-Intruders/現 Vendetta のメンバーによる東京 female fronted melodic hardcore-punk "Vespera" の1stデモが自身のレーベル "Vesperadical" よりついにリリース。

以前よりメンバーからこの新バンド結成の話を聞いていたので、ある程度どんな感じの音になるか予測はしていたが、聞きこむほどに既に Vespera 独自のサウンドを完成しつつあることに気づいてくる。最初頭に浮かんだバンドは初期 Post Regiment といったヨーロピアン・メロディック・パンク/ハードコア・バンド、あるいは Signal Lost といったその影響下のバンドだが、ex-D.S.B. のメンバーということで、いい意味でその名残もある。自然にそうなったかは分からないが、こうした「やさぐれた」オリジナリティが僕は非常に気にいった。ロウな音質もそのサウンドにぴったりハマっている。

姿勢に関しては、"Don't look back, don't forget" と名づけられたファンジン第1号の側面も持つ歌詞カードを見れば分かる。そのファンジンの中に、「政治を歌う事は日常に直結してくるのだから」と書かれているとおり、このバンドはまた政治的な姿勢を明確に打ち出しているバンドとも言い切っていいだろう。しかしながら、明快なそれではなく、彼らの歌詞には日常を通じて政治的に反対することとはなにか──ということに考えを巡らすような思考がある。日常を通じて為政者に殺されないこととはなにか──という。最後に再びファンジンの中から印象に残った言葉を紹介したい：

「悪政、災禍の時にはその立ちあがる煙に目をしばたたかせながらも煙をかわすだけ。気のイイ民衆。又は風向きが変わるのを噎せながらじっと待つ。忍耐強い気のイイ民衆。だから災禍の火種は種火としていつまでも未来へ負の財産として繰り越される。小さな罪は弾劾されても、大きな罪には不可侵という素地が出来上がる。」
